ROBERT SIMONSON writes about cocktails, spirits, bars and bartenders for The New York Times. He is also a contributing editor at Punch, where he reviews bars, among other things. He is the author of the books, "The Old-Fashioned," "3-Ingredient Cocktails" and "A Proper Drink," the first, and so far only, history of the cocktail renaissance. He collaborated with Martin Doudoroff on the app "Modern Classics of the Cocktail Renaissance" and with barware maker Cocktail Kingdom on a signature Old-Fashioned glass set. He lives in Brooklyn.
