Details for 2018 BevCon® Cocktail Competition, Presented by The Perfect Puréeof Napa Valley, Announced

LOS ANGELES, CA—May 8, 2018—Details for the 2018 BevCon® Cocktail Competition, presented by The Perfect Purée of Napa Valley, were announced today. New for this year, bar professionals from across the countrycan submit their best recipes for cocktails showcasing products by The Perfect Purée of Napa Valley. The theme of the competition is California Inspiredand should reflect this in the overall creation of their submitted cocktail. Recipes will be judged on cocktail name, appearance, aroma & garnish, taste & flavor, craftsmanship, incorporation and utilization of The Perfect Purée of Napa Valley product, and interpretation of the theme.

A panel of national judges will narrow the submissions down to five finalists and from there select an Overall Winner. The winner of the competition will be provided a travel stipend to attend BevCon, three-night stay at The LINE Hotel, an All-Access pass, and a full-page profile in the Official Program. The winning cocktail MUST be served by the winner at the Welcome Party on Sunday, August 19 and onsite at the LINE Hotel during a break during the Learning Sessions. BevConÒ will provide all the ingredients and product needed to prepare the cocktail at both events and will provide staffing assistance, if needed to prepare and serve the cocktail. Winners will be notified by mid-July of the results.

All Los Angeles area bar professionals entering the contest will also be judged for our “LA Favorite” winner category. This winning cocktail will be selected with the same criteria and will be showcased at the Closing Event—Let’s Get Lit on Tuesday, August 21. An All-Access Pass will be provided along with all ingredient and product needed to prepare the cocktail. **NOTE: The overall winner and LA Favorite could be the same person.

Along with detailed instructions on preparing the cocktail all competitors MUST submit a photo of their cocktail with entry. There will be a People’s Choicebased on the number of likes on Instagram. The winner will receive a day pass to attend  BevCon®.

Submissionswill be accepted until June 30, 2018 at midnight via http://bevcon.org/cocktail-competition. Judges include Angel Postell from BevCon, Jeff Greif from Chilled magazine, Virginia Miller, writer and Manny Hinojosa, mixologist.

BevCon® Announces New Location, Dates and Call for Presentations for 2018

CHARLESTON, SC—December 14, 2017— BevCon®, an annual beverage industry-only conference, has announced it will take place at the LINE Hotel in Koreatown, Los Angeles on August 19-21, 2018. Koreatown has been dubbed the “Cool Center of LA” by GQ magazine and the LINE has been named one of the hottest hotels in the city by numerous national publications. The boutique hotel was created and managed by Sydell Group, who’s portfolio includes NoMad and Freehand in the U.S. Chef Roy Choi is responsible for the food & beverage programming at the LINE, the Commissary, a converted greenhouse connected to a nearby pool area. The rooms feature floor to ceiling windows, rustic concrete walls, unique art fixtures, and the bed in the center of the room to overlook the view.  

BevCon® will launch the Call for Presentations applications online on Friday, December 15. Presentations can cover a wide range of topics as they relate to the beverage industry, and can be done as a workshop, a visual presentation, a panel discussion, or a tasting/technique format. Subjects of interest include bar operations, education, beverage making, professional development, management, legal and business operations, and media and marketing. Any subject covering trends or predictions tend to be popular sessions and content is preferred to be more advanced in nature. Applications are due Friday, February 3, 2018.
