In two short years, BevCon® has quickly become one of the country’s most exciting and inspiring, industry only, beverage events.  Professional bartenders, sommeliers, buyers, beverage makers, distributors, importers, media, marketing and public relations professionals, educators, and other related companies all gather in an intimate setting to learn from one another, share resources, network, and become inspired to grow their respected businesses. 

The main crux of the event is the Learning Sessions. Each day is filled with several dozen presentations by the best in the business. Topics cover key components in the beverage industry including: operations, financial and legal issues, beverage making, new and cutting-edge techniques, and trends in the wine, spirits, beer and non-alcoholic industries. There are several sessions which feature a tasting component that provides a chance to sample rare, hard-to-find products. For 2018, more focus will be placed on international trends and personalities.

HISTORY

BevCon® began in 2016 as the passion project of Angel Postell, owner of Sipindipity, and has grown into an ever-evolving, highly praised industry event.  With over twenty years promoting and producing food and beverage related projects and events, including founding and directing the Charleston Wine + Food Festival for ten years, Postell saw a profound need for an event celebrating “all things beverage” and “all people beverage.”  Her desire to offer this type of event led her to bring together a nationally recognized group of advisors representing the country's top beverage professionals. Together they share a mission to:

  • Connect the beverage Community in an intimate environment where owners, bartenders, sommeliers, and cicerones together with other beer, wine, and spirit producers and professionals can share resources, discuss trends, network and most importantly inspire one another.

  • Showcase unique products of integrity by creating a platform where producers of small batch, rare and reserve products are willing to sample their products to an audience of value.  All BevCon® attendees must be members of the industry.

  • Integrate the industry's most informed and respected media professionals and writers into the heart of the events programming. BevCon® seeks to educate and inspire its attendees, and who better to assist in this task than the individuals who so passionately and eloquently report on the industry’s most stimulating trends and topics.

Most importantly, BevCon® not only gives back to its attendees through highly cultivated programming but the event donates any profits from the event to beverage-related causes through Postell’s 501c4 organization—Home Team Angels. Funding may provide financial scholarships for those aspiring to grow their business or career, or even assist those facing hardships due to natural disasters or other unforeseen adversities.
